The Kiwanis Club of
Williamsport would like to give special recognition
to this year's
Williamsport Children's Charities:
KIWANIS CLUB OF WILLIAMSPORT
The club was organized in 1919 with the principal
of helping children. Since then, this all-volunteer
club has helped thousands of local children. The Kiwanis
Club of Williamsport has made thousands of dollars in
donations and have helped organizations like the Children's
Heart Clinic at Geisinger, Lycoming County Foster Children,
Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Salvation Army, Laurel
Youth Services, the American Rescue Workers, the American
Red Cross, and orphanages in both Rwanda and in Bulgaria.
The club's membership has adopted the Kiwanis International
spirit and motto, "A global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community
at a time." Each month, the club receives requests for
chartable donations, some requests from local residents
who are volunteering around the world. By supporting
the Kiwanis Club, you’re supporting children.
THE L.C.C.C.S
Children’s Development Center’s physical therapy
program
focuses on gross motor skills, strength, and coordination.
It is a private, not-for profit
agency located in Williamsport, PA, serving children
with special needs,
ages 0 to 21 years, throughout North Central PA. We
provide occupational
therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, a pre-school
program, information
and referral, and orthopedic clinics staffed by a pediatric
orthopedic surgeon
from the Hershey Medical Center, and orthopedists from
the Costello Center.
In addition, C.D.C. administers the Bi-County W.I.C.
Program and the North
Central Regional Office of the Special Kids Network.
The Center
OUR MISSION: CSFYCA seeks to make real
and lasting changes in the community by impacting the
lives of those people we serve. We will do that by:
• Providing programs aimed at empowering youth, parents,
adults, community
organizations, and institutions to regain control of
their lives, homes, and communities, and to collectively
work to strengthen our diverse community.
• Nurturing positive feelings in community members about
themselves intellectually, physically, emotionally,
and socially.
• Offering programs that contribute to self-esteem enhancement
and a high level of dignity – qualities that are essential
in order to become healthy and effective in meeting
the challenges of life.
BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS
MISSION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lycoming
County provide mentoring services to at-risk youth.
We pair these disadvantaged children, who often come
from homes riddled with violence, substance abuse, and
adults with a lack of parenting skills, with caring,
well-screened adult volunteers. These volunteers spend
time in one-on-one matches, and couples matches, with
the children; showing the children positive role models,
often lacking in their
home lives.
